1. Building a Strong Foundation
In the spirit of transparency, we’re thrilled to announce the success of our recent fundraising efforts. Your generosity has allowed us to secure vital funding, propelling us toward our mission of breaking the chains of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trauma. Your contributions are the bedrock upon which hope and empowerment flourish.
2. A Glimpse into the Future
We are thrilled to share a significant milestone in the Kingdom Builder’s Family Life Center journey, fueled by your unwavering support. We are working closely with a dedicated realtor who has been a generous donor and advocate for our cause since discovering our mission. Together, we are actively exploring properties to secure our second safe house. This exciting project is projected to come to fruition by mid-year 2024, marking a crucial step forward in our commitment to providing a secure haven for individuals and families facing imminent danger and fearing for their lives. We will be able to house up to 30 individuals and families who are in imminent danger.
To turn this vision into reality, we need your support! We are now accepting donations for household items to furnish our upcoming safehouse fully. Your contribution will play a vital role in creating a warm and welcoming environment for those seeking refuge.
We are looking for:
– Brand new towels
– Toiletry items
– Bed sets
– Pots and pans
– Laundry room supplies

3. Financial and Rent Assistance
On October 11, 2023, we received a call from the United States Senator Michael Bennet’s Office, delivering heartening news—confirming a Department of Justice grant award. This long-awaited grant marks a significant milestone in our journey, and we are honored to have the opportunity to make an even more substantial impact on the lives of victims and survivors in our community. The grant will empower us to provide significant financial rent assistance to those grappling with the burden of bills, eviction threats, and the challenging economic landscape in Colorado Springs. The reality of high rent rates in Colorado Springs, coupled with the minimum wage challenges in the state, has made it increasingly difficult for individuals and families to maintain stable housing. This grant is a source of hope, allowing Kingdom Builder’s Family Life Center to extend our reach and support more families and victims/survivors of crime. The funds from this grant will play a crucial role in preventing evictions, ensuring that families and survivors facing financial hardships can stay in their homes. It affirms our commitment to creating a community where everyone can have safety, stability, and a chance to rebuild. We look forward to this grant’s positive impact on our community and are excited about the opportunities it brings to amplify our mission.
4. Impact in Numbers: Celebrating Our Achievements
July 2023 – November 13, 2023: Since our new grant cycle was initiated in July 2023 until November 13, 2023, we are proud to share that we’ve actively served 34 enrolled individuals. This number is significant but needs to account for the 74 walk-ins we’ve welcomed during this period. Each face and story represent a step forward in our mission to provide support, empowerment, and healing. Since we received our first funding in 2019, we’ve had the privilege of serving 434 individuals and youth impacted by the harrowing experiences of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. It’s a testament to our community’s resilience and collective compassion’s transformative power. From the beginning of this year until November 13, 2023, our office and on-call phone have received 846 calls. Each call represents a cry for help, a brave step toward healing, and an opportunity for us to make a difference in the lives of those in need. These numbers, while significant, go beyond statistics. They represent lives touched, stories rewritten, and a community united in the pursuit of hope and resilience.
5. Looking Ahead: Exciting Events in 2024
1. Race Against Violence – August 24, 2024:
Lace-up your shoes and join us for our annual Race Against Violence—an event that symbolizes our collective commitment to breaking the chains of violence in our community. This year, we proudly announce that the race will feature a decisive moment of reflection and advocacy as we conduct a Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Proclamation. Together, we’ll stand united against these pervasive issues, using our collective voice to raise awareness and promote a community of compassion and support.
2. Awareness Campaigns – April 2024:
In early April, we will witness powerful campaigns focusing on Sexual Assault, Military Child, and Child Abuse awareness. Let’s shine a light on these critical issues and foster a community of understanding and support.
3. Changing the Narrative Domestic – October 10-11, 2024:
Save the dates for our 2nd annual Changing the Narrative Domestic event—a platform for transforming conversations and empowering everyone to educate themselves to change the narrative of domestic violence.
